Our Mission

At least 8 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year. That’s 1 garbage truck full of rubbish each minute being emptied into the ocean.

Floating plastic debris are currently the most abundant items of marine litter. Waste plastic makes up 80% of all marine debris from surface waters to deep-sea sediments. Plastic has been detected on shorelines across all our continents, with more plastic materials found near popular tourist destinations and densely populated areas (International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)).

When you consider the magnitude of this challenge, 70-80% of these plastic come from the land. That’s why we also plant trees and educate to make a change at home, school and work.

At Patch and Brine we want our children and our children’s children, to swim in the beautiful clean water we once were able to and enjoy a biodiverse land.
